I was wondering if disabling crossfire would lower the power consumption?
yes or no?

Yes..... however depending your driver version and your video cards models the OS should turn it off automatically whenever it's not needed to save power.

Then you shouldn't worry about it, bear in mind if you use multiple monitors connected to both video cards at the same time this auto-turnoff feature won't work.

RaDiKaL_ is correct,

AMD uses a power management technique that they call Zero Core. It allows a linked adapter to enter an Ultra-Low-Power-State (ULPS) in which it almost completely shuts down. The fans will turn off and the power draw will be near zero.

ULPS was buggy when it was released with the GCN architecture but it works fine now.
