Excellent DSL line, but not the bandwidth (20m/1.5m contract, I got only 8m/512k)

Hi my friend,

Today I'm going to post a problem I recently Occured: I specify that I'm living in Czech Republic (South Moravia) because I have a job here, and my girlfriend before we started to live together in the same roof she subscribed a DSL contract with o2 telefonica. Many of you knows how much terrible this ISP can be, but it's the only one we can use (and we cannot also have Fiber, like UPC, because not supported in the place we live), and since the fee it's only 18euros/month (cca 500CZK) That's pretty fine.

Today I did some monitoring stuff and red the papers to see which contract and kind of service my girlfriend subscribed, and she signed out for a 20m/1.5m DSL connection. Now, the problem came when I see the DSL information in my modem router (a Zyxel P660HN-T3A with o2 firmware, sigh...) and... Surprise!

Attenuation 23.0 db 12.8 db
Actual data rate 8198 kbps 515 kbps
Attainable data rate 17692 kbps 1439 kbps
Power 14.1 dbm 12.3 dbm
CRC 4 0
FEC 0 0
HEC 9 0
Noise Margin 19.9 db 29.4 db
Error Seconds 4 s 0 s

This is the data I get from the Control Panel. As you see, from the 20mb I guessed to receive, I only got the half, 8mb. Now it's a little bit bothering to spend that kind of money to see that I will not even get barely the 20mb for some reasons, but Im going to think that my girlfriend spent almost 40 euros for nothing for a Modem Router which cannot even express its full potential. It's not her fault, Just disappointed to o2 and that kind of robberies to who doesn't know much about tech stuff...

Also, if you see the noise data, you can see that the SNR and the attenuation are excellent, so it means that I am really close to the DSLAM. Can you guys confirm that the main issue of that is the modem router? I'm planning to get a new modern one but before I need to be sure about it. Post your opinions!

Thanks a lot guys :)

PS: Don't mind about CRC and packet errors, I was doing some test to see if I can improve the performance without -obviously- any success...
