What's wrong withmy PSU?

So I have a now dead PC Power and Cooling 860w which was easily and efficiently powering the following system:
i7 3770k
asus p8z77 premium
Gtx 590
16gb Corsair dominator memory
about 4 120mm fans

So I had just finnished doing some rendering and had a few browser tabs open. It was during the night so I put the PC on sleep mode as I needed to start working on it quickly in the morning.

Whilst the PC was still asleep I accidently flicked the switch off on my PSU and realising what I had done I quickly flicked the switch back on and woke upt the system to see if everything was okay which is was. Though I wake up in the morning to find that the system powers on for about one second and then nothing, the psu refuses to do anything. I had a lot of sentimental value for this psu. I'm just wondering if someone with alot more knowledge can tell me exactly what happened as I have not come accross anything like this.

More about : wrong withmy psu

If the PSU is dead its dead you cant do nothing a PSU can die because of voltage spikes, powerouts, short circuit, too much stress or simply because of age.

Which model, exactly, of PC Power and Cooling is the PSU? The original Silencer models had some problems.
Also, don't think it will make much difference but worth a try; with the system shut down and the PSU switched off, un-plug it for a 15 minutes. Then plug it back in and try to boot.

If that doesn't work, let the machine shut down or shut it down, switch off the PSU, unplug it just to be sure, then reset the BIOS. Don't know if your board has a button to do that but your owners manual will tell you how to do it.
Usually you simply remove the silver battery on the mobo, move the jumper connection to pins 1 & 2 or 2&3 depending on the board, let it sit for a minute, place the jumper back on the correct pins, install the battery (You have it out, buy a new one to install, worth the $3), and see if it fires up. You will eventually have to go into the BIOS to reset any settings that you had changed over the years.
Let us know how it goes.

Its a turbocool 860w, was fairly high end when I bought it and it should have lasted a lot longer that it has. Ill try your solution now.

That is a very good unit, so it is possible that it finally gave up the ghost, but IMHO I think the PSU is going to be o.k. I am using a TurboCool 510 in one of my builds and that unit is at least 7 years old; checked it with a multimeter and power is still (not under load) withing the 1% and 3% tolerances they advertised.
Let us know how the BIOS reset works out.
