I was thinking of buying one and went to the MSI website to check out the manual, but the MSI 970 Gaming isn't listed in their "Gaming" line any more.
Newegg doesn't list it in their categories, unless you do a web search; then it shows up. Is it discontinued? If so, why? It was a well reviewed board. It seemed like the best under-$100 board for FX processors available.

Edit: I found it doing a web search: http://us.msi.com/product/mb/970_GAMING.html#hero-overv...
Not sure if it was just me, or what. But I couldn't find it when I used Newegg's Specifications/Manufacturer's Product Page.

Recently Newegg has restocked the product - So it shouldn't be discontinued (US), but for me over in Australia it certainly isn't available for instore purchases.

That link in the above image does not work either, the board has been discontinued to a selection of countries.

Looking at both the link you provided and the one that is directly from newegg, the links are as follows -

Newegg - http://www.msi.com/msi404#hero-specification (Doesn't work - Global (#404 in link occurs after page has loaded, this is not part of the link. This is MSI's number for products no longer available, or wrong web addresses within their site))

Newegg Link before error link occurs (Error link above) - http://www.msi.com/product/mb/970_GAMING.html#hero-spec...

MSI US - http://us.msi.com/product/mb/970_GAMING.html#hero-speci...

This could mean it is not listed on the global platform as it is not available to all countries, possibly to the USA and others.

Yeah, thanks for that. It's good to know it wasn't just me that had problems locating it at first.
I'm thinking of replacing my Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3. Rev 4 of the Gigabyte board must have some kind of UFEI BIOS error. Not all OC settings will stick when making them inside BIOS and saving. In particular, the vcore changes.

I had been considering that board for a friend a while back, but the availability has been poor. I ended up just shipping it from oversees but the fact that warranty issues may result in an overseas shipment ordeal. I haven't had a problem with any Gigabyte BIOS saving before, but the Vcore changing on their X79 chipset based boards can be a bit fiddly.

I too have always been a fan of Gigabyte boards. I have another one (Z68) that is also a UD3. I also had a previous revision of this 990FXA-UD3 (Rev3) that had a conventional BIOS and was great. But this rev 4 comes with a EUFI BIOS that seems to have issues. And I have the latest version of the BIOS.

This site is giving me issues at the moment keep on have to sign in every 20 seconds.

Is that board out of warranty by now? -Some tend to have three years.

No, it's only a few weeks old. I just don't know how I would word the issue well enough to warrant an RMA. I guess I could present the issue to Gigabyte the same way I did here and see what they say. Thanks for the suggestion. I may do that.

Btw, we all had the sign-in issue yesterday. It had something to do with the servers Toms contracts through Amazon or something. They explained it in the Site Feedback thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2316892/whats-wron...

As long as the board has an issue that effects you that it shouldn't, they should accept your RMA.

If it's to do with saving BIOS saving only then try incorporating something to do with there BIOS, like their labelled Gigabyte Dual EFI BIOS/GIGABYTE Touch BIOS -

"GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ is a patented technology that automatically recovers BIOS data when the main BIOS has crashed or failed" <- How can you expect a recovery if some of the data doesn't even save? Though you cannot expect everything to come back after a recovery, You can at least expect a board that actually saves all changes.

"Navigating through the BIOS to change system settings can be a daunting task for users not familiar with control “F”functions and mouse-less navigation." -> "With GIGABYTE Touch BIOS™, GIGABYTE engineers have completely re-imagined how users can interact with their BIOS, allowing for a more intuitive user experience." <- Again, may be somewhat easy to change but what is the changes if not all settings save.
