I recently finished my first build and was excited to start up BIOS and setup for installing Windows 8.1. However, upon plugging in both an HDMI and a VGA cable (HDMI to my HDTV and the VGA to an old Dell monitor) I found that they both did not receive a signal from my PC. I cleared the CMOS and removed the battery and tried once more. Some research suggested that I plug a DVI cable into my GPU and then that into my monitor. However, I found contradictory forums that didn't even mention a DVI cable or the GPU. I am wondering if I am missing any cable, part, or if I'm simply clueless and not doing things right.
Specs:
-Corsair CX 500w PSU
-Gigabyte B75M-HD3 Ultra Durable Motherboard (LGA 1155)
-Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 GPU
- 2 Kingston HyperX Fury 4GB RAM
-Xigmatek Prime Heatsink
-Intel i5 quad-core 3.2GHZ
-Asus DVD Drive
-2TB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive
-Rosewill Challenger Case (3 pre-installed fans)
-Dell Flat Panel Monitor with a 100-240V input rating, 1.5A (1,5A), (50/60Hz).
Further info:
I have the HDMI plugged into the back of my case and into my HDMI 1 slot of my HDTV. I change the input on my TV to HDMI 1 and still see no results. I have also tried having both the VGA and HDMI plugged at the same time and then once for each separately. The mouse and keyboard are both plugged in as well. I will pick up a DVI cable later today just in case I do need it.
I require this computer for work and for school projects so any and all information that you think might be helpful is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
