I have an alienware 17, I had to sell my desktop due to space since I am moving but I still want to game. I bought an alienware at a descent discount and right now it runs everything I have thrown at it with descent numbers.

My alienware specs are as follows

Intel core I7-4700mq
12gb DDR3 1600mhz
240gb crucial SSD
750gb storage drive
GTX 765m
screen is a 1600x900 anti glare

My question is this, I have seen on you tube that you can replace the video card in these as they are not soldered in. I was wondering if I could later on at a gtx 870m a little later on down the road or can it not be done. thank in advance everyone

Many of the top end laptops come with upgradable video. You just have to weigh the risk of killing the system if you installing wrong vs. getting faster video. It may be a small risk but you can drop something on the motherboard and scratch a contact, install the heatsink wrong and cook the chip, have a screwdriver slip, etc...

ya I agree with you, but I am very familiar with computers, I have built many of my own. I always use an anti static wrist band. There is always a risk opening any computer up being it a notebook or a desktop, but the fact that when my graphics chip wont perform like I would want it to, I can upgrade just that and not have to purchase an entire new notebook, since it is a lot cheaper. I know my processor should be good for awhile I don't know many games that would chew it up.
