PCI Hard Drive

Hi There,

How do I install a PCI SSD?
I want to install a ASUS ROG RAIDR Express PCI-E 240GB PCIe 2.0 x 2 MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) into a
ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME, Extended ATX x99 Motherboard , LGA 2011-V3 Socket, DDR4 3300Mhz+(OC)

Any advice you can give me will be highly appreciated!

http://www.asus.com/Storage_Optical_Drives/RAIDR_Express_PCIe_SSD/ - just fit it like you would do a graphics card.

Then format it and away you go.

PCI-e, not PCI, you will confuse us old timers.

Physically you install it in one of the PCI-e 16X slots.

Actually it can go into a PCI-E 4x, 8x or 16x, and is native to PCI-E 2 (so can save PCI-E 3 slots if a 2 is available), will work in PCI-E3 which is backward compatible

Pretty sure that board only has 16X slots, That is the only reason I said that.

it dose have a 1X, but it won't fit in there.

Oh agree, but depending on the CPU being used (different X99 CPUs have differing #s of PCI-E lanes they support) and how configured with add ins determines what each slot can run, the mobo also does have a PCI-E 2 x16 slot that runs in x4 depending on config

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your answers.
The CPU I am using is Intel Core i7-5960X Haswell-E 8-Core 3.0GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W Desktop Processor.
These are the specs for the Asus Rampage V Extreme Mother Board.

It has 40 Lane Processors and 28 Lane Processors.
It has 4 x16 for GPU's and 5 x8 and 1 x16 for everything else.
Where should I or could I fit these Asus PCI e SDD?
