Help with pushing my Q9550 further

Hey all,

I have hit a wall with overclocking. The highest I can get my Q9550 is 3.4, and it's quite stable. However, I wanted to experiment with getting it to 3.6 or 3.8. However, this has been a giant failure so far. I got it to boot into windows once at 3.6, but that's it. All other tries it doesn't even POST or show anything on screen.

Here's what i'm trying:

FSB: 424

Multiplier: 8.5

PCIE frequency 105

RAM timing 5,5,5,15 (tried 6,6,6, 18 no luck)

Vcore 1.3625

NB: 1.4

SB: 1.7

LLC enabled

C1E support disabled

I suspect this is a RAM issue. I am trying this with 4GB of DDR2-800 Corsair RAM. I usually use a mix of 4B Lexmark and 4GB Corsair but the highest overclock which I can get with that mix is 3.4.

Is there any room for improvement, or is 3.4 the max I can get? I do this mostly as just a hobby XD

As a side question, what would be the best video card that could go with a Q9550 with a 3.4 OC? i.e what is the best card with the least bottleneck produced by this CPU?

Thanks!!

Core 2 Quad Q9550
P5QL-Pro
XFX 650W
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7790 OC
1TB WD Blue, 128GB Intel SSD.
