I am planning to purchase a Samsung 840 SSD 250 Gb for my i7 Ivy Bridge Laptop. My problem is that I normally write about 150 GB -200 GB of Data daily due to my personal Bluray Rips, my encodes, conversion etc. Then I Burn or Transfer to my 4 TB MyBook. Will this affect the performance of my SSD? and if so, how long (Estimated) would the lifespan be? I am planning to make the SSD run as my main os as well, which is Windows 8.1 Pro.

1. Why would you write directly to the SSD?

2. Why would you write to the same SSD as the OS?

3. SSD endurance:

Hundreds of GB per day, for years. They are over 1PB on some of the drives.

"By far the most telling takeaway thus far is the fact that all the drives have endured 600TB of writes without dying. That's an awful lot of data—well over 300GB per day for five years"
