Slow Ethernet with a MSI Z97 Gaming 7 Motherboard

Apologies if this is the wrong part of the forum.

I had quite a few problems, but I finally finished building my own PC. One thing that I can't work out is why my ethernet internet connection seems to have gotten a little bit slower.

My previous speeds were 12 mbps download and about 1.1 mbps upload. Now I have a MSI Z97 Gaming 7 motherboard installed and I am getting 7-9 mbps download and 0.7 mbps upload.

The connection runs through a router as other people need it for wifi on occasion.

I have checked and updated all drivers.

Any ideas?

I'm personally not a fan of the Ethernet port on MSI motherboards. It seems to cause more issues then its worth. Go into the Qualcomm Ethernet program and make sure its not limiting your upload/download speed. You could also get an Ethernet adapter that plugs into the motherboards PCI-E slot.

Thanks for the reply.

So you are basically saying I should add a second ethernet port to bypass the original? Any recommendations as to what to get?

It does seem that Qualcomm has somehow managed to make a mess of their program which is a bit disturbing as they advertise it as Killer Ethernet!

I had the same issue with my board. If you have the Killer Performance Suite installed, remove it. It controls the ethernet bandwidth and throttles down your speeds.
