HP pc makeover

Hi I want to makeover my parents old pc. They got a new pc and were going to throw the old one out but I told them not to. Here are the pc specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01465973&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en . It's a HP Pavilion Elite m9340f if you want to do further research. The parts I want to upgrade/ changing are: case (one with system fans the hp case barely has any), power supply, CPU fan (I actually had a technician change the CPU fan a few years ago because it was no good right now it's a cooler master fan), ram, and operating system (maybe HDD too). I still want to do some gaming on it. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on it. The parts have to be available micro center because I don't like ordering online. I'm not sure if it's worth upgrading.

Update: Not all parts have to be from micro center. It's hard to find good parts there

Update: This is what I got: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZmyG23 I don't want to spend $100 on a operating system and I don't like pirating... Maybe vista isn't that bad?

Made the case a little cheaper, but from reviews and videos I have seen that the Source 210 is a good budget case...

I would say just get a new system. You are upgrading a lot, and even if you upgrading, gaming is not really much of an option. The motherboard only supports DDR2 RAM and the chipset is extremely outdated. I would say keep the case and OS(Vista isn't THAT bad...) from the old HDD and put those in with some new stuff. If you have a budget you would like me to work around I could make you a whole new system.

Changed my mind. I actually only want to upgrade the case, psu, and CPU fan. It's not worth upgrading any other parts. Idc about getting a gaming pc I don't need it I only play minecraft and it currently runs smoothly on medium settings @ 120 fps or highest setting @ 60 fps. The problem is it overheats ALOT I think it's because of the bad CPU/Case cooling. I want to upgrade instead of build a whole new one because it's the cheapest option.

Ok, that might be better. The CPU fan will be hard to find since the chipset is really old, so you are going to have to deal with the current one, sorry. Here are the other recommended parts for $170(price of your previous upgrades):

I was able to fit in a new OS for you :) Also what is the reason you want to upgrade the PSU?

P.S. Will be going to sleep, so I will not be able to answer until later tomorrow. Sorry.

He's happy with the current performance. OP, your original selections are fine. Here's what I would do for the psu to save some money.

Edit: Since you only play minecraft, I would just go with a linux distro to save money on the OS. Maybe get Xubuntu.

Made the case a little cheaper, but from reviews and videos I have seen that the Source 210 is a good budget case. Airflow shouldn't be a problem at all. I also pushed in a 212 Plus since currently the EVO is at $30 and if you are not overclocking, the CPU should stay well cooled. And after all that it still has an OS(Windows 8.1)
