Hi,

I recently purchased an R7 250X GPU as a little upgrade over my APU graphics.

Here is my current rig:

AMD A4-5300
Sapphire R7 250X 1GB DDR5
Gigabyte GA-F2A55M-DS2
4GB RAM
Seagate 250 GB HDD
Ovation P4-600 (450W true rated) PSU

I am currently playing League of Legends at High Settings with AA and Vertical Sync On without any problems. Unfortunately for Battlefield 4 and Far Cry 3, I am not satisfied since I cannot push the settings to my monitor's resolution (1440x900) and High Settings with AA off.

My current graphics settings for Battlefield 4 is 1280x720 with Medium Settings and AA off. For Far Cry 3, I use the same resolution but I can manage High Settings. I monitored my FPS using FRAPS and it gave me low 30s to high 40s FPS for both games.

QUESTIONS:

1. Can I overclock my R7 250X and will it produce better results? I am not looking for dramatic results; just a little bump to at least around 40-50 FPS average.

2. What overclocking program do you recommend? I have AMD Overdrive, and looking at Sapphire Trixx and MSI Afterburner.

Note: I do not wish to achieve 1080p gaming, since my monitor will also bottleneck it. I just want smooth and stable frame rates at 720p.

Hope the experts in this site can provide input and advice.

Thanks!

You can OC it but I'm not sure you will see a huge improvement, probably around 10-20% at best. I prefer MSI afterburner as my OC software but you could use any of those mentioned

I recommend manufacturer oc software to overclock your card, it is my personal favourite way.

Review for overclocking that card -
