This was my mistake and I copied the wrong page. For that I apologize for any misleading info.

Multi GPU Support Yes, Supports AMD CrossFire Technology, NVIDIA SLI

This is from the website. According to MSI (US) it only supports AMD Crossfire, but they also say that this is also subject to location, must verify with local dealers. In India it may support SLI, in US it doesn't.

For what it's worth, considering that you are thinking of SLI with gtx 970's, you are much better off saving up some more, and get a motherboard capable of pcie x16, x8/x8. Any of the boards @12k rp are x16, x4/x4 which will throttle the performance of those gpus.

MoBos are same everywhere, the reason Z97 PC MATE does NOT support SLI is that the 2nd x16 slot runs at x4. SLI is not supported unless this config is x8/x8 atleast, whatever be the MoBo. A good way to look at this is to verify what speed the PCIe x16 slots are running at, particularly the 2nd one, at x8 or x4.

A x16/x4 MoBo will not support SLI anywhere, you're out of luck with this one.

Ahhh, now that makes sense. I know psus are slightly different in specs from US to other countries, wasn't sure about mobo's, especially since reading that msi statement and seeing sli supported on the pc mate for Indian markets, but not supported in US markets.

It says XFire I think here in the States, but many mobos throw in they 'support' SLI or XFire to increase sales and technically they do as a single card with dual GPUs effectively is in SLI or Xfire, but it throws lots of people that think they can run two separate GPUS in SLI or XFire
