So i'm about to build my first pc and I have a few parts chosen, but I wanted to know what else I needed. I plan to use this mostly for gaming and so far these are the parts I plan to buy:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590
CPU Cooler: ?
Motherboard: ASUS H-97-Plus
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 760 2GB
Power Supply: ?
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912
Optical Drive: ?
Storage: ?

I wanted to know if i'm heading in the right direction, what else I need, and if I should switch anything. My budget is at about $1250 and can probably go up to $1500 if needed. So far this build is only at about $700. Since this is my first time building a pc, I chose not to overclock. If you think I should get better parts let me know. Thanks in advance!

1) For $1250, do you need any extra accessories?
2) This build is only good at $700. You need more. MOAR!!!
3) Are you going to stream/record games?

Regardless, here's a good build:

Just make sure also to get the Corsair H100i cooler. It sometimes disappears and reappears on PCPartPicker, and as much as I hate it, it just happens.

well an easy upgrade to recomend would be a 970. I would also recommend a Samsung 840 evo 250gb SSD paied with a 1TB WD Blue HDD. If you want an optical drive just get the cheapest $15 one you can find. As for a power supply look to Seasonic, XFX, or Corsair so long as you avoid their CX series of PSUs. Also look at getting 1866 RAM or higher. If you dont overclock you dont need a cpu cooler the stock will do just fine.

I might suggest getting the 4690k, a Z97 mobo, and a cooler like a Hyper 212 evo so that you can overclock when/if you choose to.

I think the reason the build is cheaper than my budget is because I chose parts with an "I think this is enough power" mentality. And the only accessories I need are a monitor and a keyboard, but that's aside from the budget I have for the actual pc.

Can I overclock at any time I want after putting together my pc?

And with cases I want to stick to something that can be easy for me to manage since I'm not sure how i'll do when putting everything together. That's why I chose the HAF 912

Ultra does sound nice.

I do prefer a windowed case.

So will the build you linked be able to run ultra settings with some good FPS? It definitely looks like a nice build.

Thanks for the help guys! I really appreciate it!

That build looks really nice Jameson. I'm gonna look more into it, but it does look like i'll be leaning towards it a lot.

A few more questions though:

Do I need an optical drive or can I just leave that out?

Is going with 16GB RAM too much? And will the Ripjaws not work as well if the pc isn't not overclocked?

On the pc part picker it says something about unable to verify the Hyper 212 cooler and the Blackhawk case compatibility. Is that just sort of like a note simply letting you know it can't verify it and it probably does fit anyways?

You don't need an optical drive but I still feel like why not have one.

16gb is pretty pointless unless you are doing video editing and such. If that is the case you would also greatly benefit with getting an i7 4790k CPU. The ripjawsX I recomend will work fine if you don't OC but in order to get them to run at their speeds you will have to go into the bios and enable the XMp settings (very easy) otherwise they will likely run at 1600/9.

The evo fits in the blackhawk, those are both parts of my rig right now
