A GTX 970 can be had for about $350 and it performs nearly as well as a GTX 780 Ti. Word of advice: If you get an EVGA card, get the ACX 2.0 version and adjust the fan speeds to about 50% max in EVGA Precision X. Coil whine does not seem to be much of an issue on the ACX 2.0 cards, but the default fan speeds are ridiculous. The first batch of 970s seem to have some issues right now. If temps get a bit too high for your liking, then get a GPU waterblock. My 970 ACX 2.0 gets up to about 75°C under load, a few degrees warmer than my previous GPU, but seems to run stable with the fans running at 50%.

The board may not support the CPU without a BIOS update if it does not have the P1.30 version which was released on 6-4-2014. Most likely it already has this version, but be aware of this limitation just in case.

Also, I'm not big on the mobo anyway, if you could find me a nice all black asus or gigabyte one that would be awesome.

What would the price range for the board be? Probably not going to find a suitable one for the same or less than the board you had picked. And apparently NONE of the Z87 or Z97 boards are guaranteed out of the box to support Haswell Refresh or Devils Canyon, but most are SUPPOSED to be shipping with compatible BIOS. As I've mentioned in previous threads, as have others, some folks HAVE gotten boards that were sitting on the shelf somewhere and have the same model number but DO NOT have a BIOS version recent enough to be supportive.

There are however many boards that have BIOS flash capabilities WITHOUT a compatible CPU being installed, which might be a good idea to pick one of them so that if it doesn't come with a fresh BIOS it can easily be installed.

Build looks good, might look at the ARock's Fatal1ty Killer (about $125) or the Asus Z97 - A or the AR (both about $140)

All of the following boards either support it out of the box with their current BIOS or can be updated via ASUS flashback using a flash drive with or without a compatible cpu installed. There are several others as well, this is just a sampling since I don't know the price range you're wanting to shoot for.:

Unless you get real unlucky, most all of the mobos (Z97) should have a compatable BIOS that are currently out and available for sale, except maybe for the duds that just don't sell. The BIOS updates should have been added on the line
