My current pc is running windows 7 x64 on a 260G hard drive. I have a spare 160G hard drive laying around that I want to put in and put linux ubuntu 14.04.1 on. Is there a way I will be able to do so and have a boot window come up similar to having two OS on one drive? I want the drives to be separate from one another as far as each OS is concerned. All I want is a boot window so I can chose without manually changing the boot order in the BIOS every time.

Solution
Yes.

Install windows first, then install linux on the second drive. Grub will detect and add the windows install to the prompt (grub-update is run as part of the installation process in most cases, so you probably won't even have to do anything to "tell" it to detect). Set the linux drive as the 1st boot option in BIOS and you should be set. If that doesn't cover it there are hundreds of simple guides on the net for how to do this.
