Repost with prices and sources

Try a Z97 mobo with the 4790k eg ASRock Z97 Extreme 6 per http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/enthusiast-z97-moth...

8gb is OK for gaming. Get 2 x 4gb 1866 cl9 1.5v low profile (to fin under the CM cooler). If editing, get 2 x 8gb 1866 etc

Change the power supply to a Seasonic M12II 520 ($67 at Newgg) for one gtx760 or a EVGA Supernova 750 for SLI later on

If you are using the computer for gaming I would just get an i5 4670k you save some money and in most games there will be no difference in frames you might even be able to use the saved up money to get a 770. 4gb of video ram is not really needed unless you are doing a multiple monitor set up. Otherwise the system is great as it is and will perform well across the board.

Wait a few weeks and buy the new Nvidia gtx 960 when it comes out, it will be faster, possibly cheaper and more energy efficient than the gtx 760, and I am sure that the gtx 960 will have a 4gb model, unless your not doing editing or multi-monitors, if you aren't 4gb is a waste. If you replace that i7 4790k with an i5 4690k you might be able to upgrade to a gtx 970, which is 4gb and is VERY good with price/performance ratio. If you do all that, get the gigabyte or MSI model of the gtx 970, or wait until the gtx 960 comes out and get a gigabyte or msi model.

See link for mobo. Z97 is designed to work with i7 4790k. Not Z87.

OCZ is more expensive - you still haven't added prices
