Hi
I would like to start to stream games, and I currently have an i3 3220 in my PC and I would like to upgrade it.
Also, I have a GTX 660 so on board graphics would be pointless.
I was thinking about either the i5 3570k:

Or the Xeon E3-1230 V2:

I would like a processor that would be able to last for at least a few years and that can easily stream games.
Which of these two processors would be best fit for me?
Thanks

It will depend on the game and how much higher the i5 is clocked over the xeon ..but generally the extra threads gives you lots of headroom for running the game the OS and the streaming software all side by side. For games that only use one or two cores max though the i5 would he better since 6 cores will be doing nothing. For a game like crysis or battlefield every core helps

Potentially, the i5 when overclocked could perform better in some older, less threaded games. However, this would be offset by the fact that you would be able to cope slightly less with background processes and streaming software.

Realistically, for your tasks, the Xeon is the better option. You'll be able to accomplish more tasks at once, quicker.

Careful with the motherboard, the only Xeon chips that are shown as supported are the Sandybridge versions. If you're looking to find out which boards will support it, I personally use uk.pcpartpicker.com to check.

The Xeon's cores are powerful enough as is and games are moving onto utilizing multiple cores so the Xeon will last longer.

Unfortunately my motherboard is not in the pc part picker database, so I do not know whether or not I can use the Xenon.
The Xenon is an Ivy bridge, so I don't think my motherboard will support the CPU :/
If you guys can find my motherboard on pc part picker, good luck

Google is your friend. ;)

For whatever reason Gigabyte neglected to include the 1230v2 in its bios updates for Ivy bridge chips. Also getting an i5 3570k is pointless, as an H61 board cannot overclock.

What would you suggest I do? Upgrade my motherboard and upgrade my CPU to Xeon or just upgrade my CPU to i5?
If I upgrade my motherboard, what motherboard would you suggest?
