Asus Gtx 780 ti vs Gtx 970 g1 gaming

Solution
The GTX 780 Ti is faster than the GTX 970.
The GTX 970 has more VRAM, but there is no game that currently requires more than this at 1920x1080.

While you find people claiming Battlefield 4 requires more than 3GB, this is only with mantle.
You can see the GTX 780 Ti with 3GB VRAM out-performing the AMD 4GB cards with mantle in this benchmark:

Watch Dogs also requires at least 3GB of VRAM for ultra textures:
http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/watch-dogs-graphics-performance-and-tweaking-guide#textures

There are also two new games coming out that recommend more than this, but they haven't been released yet so the material may not be correct...
Nope,GTX 970 is enough for 1080p and even 1440p:

Better by 1 FPS.That is so irrelevant, you have no idea.
But bear in mind that the GTX 970:
1) is more power efficient (TDP of 145W)
2) is better for OCing
3) it generates less heat
4) it stays cooler
5) it needs a lower wattage PSU (quality 550W would suffice,650W for 780 Ti.750W for 970 SLI,1000W for 780 Ti SLI.)

Hows it better for OCing? theyre comparing a factory overclocked 970 to a stock 780ti, compare the g1 to most aftermarket 780tis, and it will lose against them almost every time. Hell in quite a few benches it was neck and neck with the 980.

So what? it has a 256 bit PCI bus opposed to the 780tis 384 bit bus. When we actually have games that will strain the memory the bus will provide better performance.

Guess it will depend on resolution. From my reading, this new architecture utilizes memory bandwidth differently and more effectively.
I was just throwing the point out there. It is one of the reasons I chose the 970 over the 780ti.

They both have same price and yes ill be gaming at 1080p

oh sorry, I completely forgot that they are both the same price.

Even though the 780 ti has the advantage in pure horsepower, the gtx 970 counters with more Vram, way lower TDP, and a better feature set.

So, here are some questions you have to ask yourself:

1. What games do I play. this is important because the gtx 780 ti only has 3GB of RAM, and that has proven not to be sufficient for ULTRA settings in AAA tiltles like battlefield 4. So your basically gona have stuttering, which is just as bad as frame loss, where as you won't have this issue with the gtx 970 because of it's higher vram count.

2. Do I need/want the extra features that Maxwell cards bring?

3. (not as important) can my power supply handle the GTX 780 tis wattage, if not then get the gtx 970. If you have a 600W or higher PSU, then this question is obsolete.
