I believe this is a Win 8 issue, not completely sure tho.

My computer was working fine for months. Out of no where it shuts down and restarts, I guess this was going for a while, as I was asleep, and my girlfriend was the only one around. When I went to turn it on after this the usb keyboard and mouse would not pick up. So I turned it off unplugged and re-plugged to get the system booted again, same thing. I did it again. This time the mouse worked. Still no keyboard.

Custom built PC
Mobo - MSI Z78-G45
SSD - PNY 240GB ( OS boots from)
Intel 120GB ( Applications used daily )
HDD - Seagate 1T ( Files used in Applications Daily )
OS - Windows 8.1
RAM - 8GB (2 sticks)
GPU - N/A

This has happened before When I first built the PC. I did manage to fix the issue the first time. Only by reinstalling the OS. I really do ot want to do that again, if there is any other option please.

Do you have the keyboard in a USB2 port? If it is in a USB3 port move it to a USB2 port.
