Ok, so I bought this laptop yesterday and it had that 8GB SSD besides the 1 TB HDD. I was confused about what SSD meant until I found out it's something that is better than HDD as it uses NAND-technology instead of normal magnetic drives. So when I checked my device manager, I saw it there underneath my HDD, but when I tried to access it, I was lost. I tried Disk Management with no hope, and I can't even understand how to use it or when .... Some people said that this may be used for Windows installation on it. However, I could only see it in BOOT MENU, so I know it's there but I can't reach it.

Hey GalaxyCereal. ss202sl is right. This is because the SSD which you are referring to is only used for caching. It basically makes your system faster. The SATA controller is set on RAID and you should be able to see it in the BIOS. Don't worry, everything should be OK as it is now.

Hope that helps.

Hi all. I have a Lenovo Z50-70 with 1T HDD and 8 GB SSD. When I first install the windows 8.1 I sow the HDD partition and also the SSD as a logical partition and I delete the ssh partition expecting to recreated but after I deleted was actually disappeared not act like normal hdd, with unmanage space, or something like this. Do you now how to recover the lost ssd partition? After I install windows 8.1 oon 1 T hdd, still not see the ssd partition from device manager etc...

Hey there, Nicu.

Would you please take a look at the model of the drive from Device Manager and let me know what it is. From what I've seen the Z50 series of this laptop brand come with either an HDD or an SSHD (hybrid drive). This means that the SSD is not separate from the HDD. If this is an SSHD, it's normal for the SSD part not to be seen. The controller chip on the hybrid drive "decides" what goes on the SSD part of the drive and you have access only to the HDD part.

Hope that helps.
