I assembled a new pc 2 days back to replace my old c2d system
Specs
Intel i7 4770(non k)
Gigabyte Z97x GD3H BK
Kingston Hyper x Fury 8Gb 1600Mhz
Corsair Vs550 Psu
Windows 8.1 urdu ate 1 x64
It Rebooted on its first boot itself.... At that time it was because of loose processor fan. So I fixed it and then it worked fine for some time and then it Rebooted unexpectedly while copying some files. Then It Worked Fine For a day and then again today the cabinet got struck with my leg and the system Rebooted.... and from then onwards even on the slightest touch it reboots... the couple temp are 40-48 on idle and 58-68 while under load. It also reboots as soon as I open hot pursuit 2010 and even while just listening music.. Can the os be a problem as it was installed on c2d??
and sometimes it just gets stuck in boot loop and doesn't get past bios post.... and boots up after 8 or 9 bootloops

For major platform switches that involve the entire way the OS accesses the bios changing, I'd recommend a clean install.

Having the machine reset by touching the case, I would do a very thorough search of your PSU connections along with the front panel power and reset switches. To diagnose the problem I would simplify the machine as much as possible, remove all non-critical components and connections and see if the problem persists.

For the front panel connectors, I would try having only the power button connected.

thanxx for the quick answer... But apart from the clean install I have tried all the things u mentioned... do u think that Psu should be replaced?
is it a faulty unit??

Just touching the case shouldn't have any impact on the power, that's the part I can't figure out.

The furthest I would go would be to pull everything out of the case to rule out a short.

I would guess the PSU can't supply the required power if the system was only rebooting when you were using a demanding program/game. Do you or a friend have any access to a known good power supply to test against?

I have applied for a replacement to for the Psu... it should arrive in a couple of days... till then I'll try pulling everything out of the case... Psu should supply enough power as there aren't many hard drives not even a graphics card for now just a did drive and three hard drives
