My Monitor will randomly shut off, saying that it can't find a signal. I've built several computers and this problem has stumped me. NOTE: I just placed my processor from a intel dou 3.0 ghz, to a intel 2 quad 2.4ghz. My computer will continue to run, as well as my keyboard, and mouse. The CPU light will shut off, along with the monitor. Can't do anything besides shut off the PC really.

It's not a cabling issue? Waggle your monitor cable when this happens....

Otherwise I would check the GPU... and then the PSU etc

It's not a cable issue I assure you. I just put my old CPU back in. If it doesn't shut off, I guess i'll know it was the new CPU I got. I'm just curious as to why my new CPU would do such a thing...Driver issues? I checked compatibility before buying it obviously and everything lined up.

Does your mobo need a BIOS update for the new CPU maybe?

Having changed hardware I'm wondering if Windows is actually not quite coping... I wonder if a video driver or chipset driver update would help?

Well, the first thing I did was update the chipset via intel.com once I installed the new CPU. I put in my old CPU as of 10 minutes ago, so i'm just going to see if the random shutting off stops. If it does, i know it's the new CPU. Whether or not it's the CPU itself, or a driver issue, idk yet.

As long as you have the old CPU, update the mobo's BIOS if you have not done so already.
