Gaming System For $1500

Solution
In short, no. This would be a far better build for the money. Better CPU, better GPU.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($234.99 @ NCIX US)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($28.99 @ Best Buy)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($119.98 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($109.97 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($85.20 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX Video Card ($339.99 @ Amazon)...
Honestly, not really. For 1500, even with buying a completely new system, you should be getting a heck of a lot more quality tech than that. What are you hoping to do with your new rig? Games, rendering, simple browsing/school work? There are a lot of places to save money, and upgrade tech in that build.

I want to game/simple browsing, I also plan on storing a lot of movies. I don't plan on doing any overclocking or video editing.

Ignore build above, I forgot ram. Was distracted at work when trying to put it together. Plus, with your movie storage plan, you might want something better for storage. I would go with something like this, put the HDD in raid 1, so you don't lose everything should one drive die.

Why sacrifice performance for a name? That makes absolutely 0 sense. A Z97 board with a locked i5 is a total waste of money as well. Vengence heatsinks are too high for most aftermarket coolers. A locked i5 doesn't need a hyper 212 either. You are overpaying for SSD, and for your power supply. You don't need a bluray drive and a DVD drive. Blu ray can read DVD's on its own. You are paying more, for less overall performance. You don't have to be heavily into gaming. Get the best you can now, and it will last you that much longer. I highly suggest you go with my build over that one, as yours is just plain wasteful spending all over.
