ASUS MB's and 1GB Networking

I have had trouble with various ASUS mb's being used in a 1GB networking environment. Sometimes i get the red "x" or the yellow bang in the lower right corner on the net status. In each case, the only way I could resolve the issue was to put in a stand alone NIC card.

It's happened to too many boards to be an isolated failure. Anybody have any thoughts?

Motherboards are not really focusing on networking that much, even though you might find motherboards with integrated 1000mbps networking cards, they still aren't high quality, so the best thing you can do is buy a stand alone card.
