I heard the Gigabyte and EVGA ones were pretty cool, but which one would you guys say is best? I am planning on building a new pc and am going to get a 970 for it.

I've heard some people were having issues with the coolers on the EVGA models(squealing noises). I would get the Gigabyte one that tomshardware just posted about a little while ago. Should be out in the next few days.

EVGA classified with ACX 2.0 cooler will probably be the one with highest overclocking margin.

Edit :
I've heard very good comments about the Asus Trix. Linus did a review about the card not so long ago.

The ASUS STRIX looks to be of the best quality right now.

If you like silence, the Asus Strix is very nice because it turns off the fans at idle.

Otherwise, Gigabyte is good, MSI is good, but sadly, the EVGA one currently has some issues - it runs both hotter and noisier than other comparable cards.

The Asus Strix GTX 970 the best quality 970 available right now. It has the best build quality and it is also the quietest 970.

Dumb question but what about the PNY one?

Not dumb at all! PNY has made some great custom OC GPUS, their current 970 is only reference for the moment so everyone is drooling over the 970s and 980s that have the best OC. Palit who owns PNY has some nice custom 9xx cards so expect to see PNY to launch similar GPUs later.
