I've been looking for stock everywhere in the UK for a MSI 970 but nothing :(

While looking it got me thinking should i just get a MSI 980 and be done with it? (Mr brain)
I'm spending £70 more to get 2 970's so they will last and play some 4k games excluding crisis >.> any any game i will want in the future for quite a while maybe not in 4k but 1440p
But if i chose 1 980's and get another one in the future. i'll be spending more than £400 more than 2 970's i mean i could get another 970 and a 1000w+ PSU in that price. so 3 970s for the price of a 2 980's

My brains been trying to trick me that's it's acceptable to get the 980 as i can't find any stock of the 970. someone short my brain out. he comes up with more ways to waste my money if you give him time to think, and comes up expensive solutions if it can't find a way

More about : run gtx 970 stock

Just go for the 980. It is always better to avoid SLI, for stability/compatibility reasons. And also considering SLI scalability if you add another 980 in the future, you would probably have better performance than with 3 970's. Keep in mind though, that some people are reporting issues with the MSI versions.

I was originally looking at a single GTX 980, but the price/performance difference was just TOO much!
I instead went for 2x GTX 970's and I couldn't be happier with that decision.
Only cost me a bit more, but it's much faster than a GTX 980.

Yeah however the time it would take me to save up for another 2 graphics cards for the 980 it would be nearly time to upgrade again. :p  that would be another 900 pound extra

what problems are people having with MSI? I would love to hear as i know about evga with left of heat pipe.

Also has anyone heard of inno3D? I'm liking the look of this card but don't know if it's any good.

As I said in my first post, just go for the 980, the performance gain you will get from the 970 SLI is not worth the higher price, and the stability/compatibility sacrifice. And, if you decide to add another 980 in the future, you will have much more performance than with 3x 970 SLI, and probably still more than 4x 970 SLI, due to scaling issues.

About the issues with MSI, apparently there is some loud coil whine, and some fan control problems. Read more here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=183618.0

And no, I have never heard of inno3D, and I think their cooling solution looks way overkill, specially considering how power efficient these new cards are!
