Hello all, I'm at my wits end here and I really need a helping hand.

My Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M/USB3
The audio device is a VIA - VT1708S

After booting my PC up this morning I noticed there was no sound, the red X was over the speaker icon on the taskbar. It says "No Audio Output Device is Installed"

Now to the best of my knowledge, I don't recall doing anything to uninstall my audio output in the first place. I had sound yesterday and nothing seemed out of place.

I've uninstalled the VIA drivers several times, from the 'uninstall programs' to the device manager. I've reinstalled them several times as well from the motherboard disc to the latest version from the Asus website. In safe mode as well. I've tried disabling and enabling the VIA HiDef Audio from the device manger.

I've tried uninstalling the drivers, rebooting, and letting windows download the drivers automatically. I've tried updating the driver from device manger. Same result, "No Audio Output Device is Installed"

Oh did I mention this is a brand new motherboard? Yeah had it for a week now. SO FRUSTRATING!

So does this look like it needs RMA'd or is there a solution out there?

thank you for taking the time to read this :)
