I'd look at the GSkill Ripjaws X or Snipers prob in 1600/9 and 2x4GB minimum

Whaddya need ? 16 GB ... 8GB ?

If looking for the high end stuff, I always start w/ Mushkin as their Redline series still contains Hynix modules .... Corsair has switched suppliers and I don't know about anyone else. If you are not looking to eke out every last bit of performance, pick what's cheapest on buy day .... 2133 and 1866 can usually be found for the same price or a lil more than 1600

Best Buy 2 x 8GB = 1600 CAS 9 - Mushkin Redline - Nothing worth buiyng at 1833 or 1600 that is cheaper
$145 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Best Buy 2 x 4GB = 2133 CAS 9 (10% off w/ promo code EMCPAHD29, ends 10/2) Gskill Ripjaws
$77 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Not a whole lot of 6300s can run 2133

I don't see the relevance. If it costs $10 to have a tire balanced to 90 mph and $10 to have it balanced to 200 mph, even though I won't hit either, I'll take the latter.

1. They JEDEC profiles still work for 1600 so will serve just as well as the 1600s (which cost more) on the 6300.

2. When you upgrade the MoBo / CPU, you have the potential to have them run 33% faster in the new / upgrade build.

3. Why pay more for the 1600 ?

You specifically mention 'if looking for the high end stuff' semi implying the 6300 can handle it which it generally can't (especially at 16GB at 2133), was just clarifying...The way you suggested might well lead the OP to think 2133 is normal for a 6300, and that's far from the truth. All to often see people taking ill informed 'advice' like this, then coming back and wanting to know why the sticks won't run at 2133...and seldom ever see the one making the suggestion showing back up to help (they generally have no idea on how to even try).

I don't need to be .... Mushkin is .... a US based company with great support and Hynix Modules .

But sure, I'd be happy to give the user my contact information.... I don't charge anyone for my services.

About what I expected, I would tend to doubt if Mushkin would recommend them for this build

Sorry I just can't recommend that a person pay more to get less..... that's "not my thing".

Try and remember that RAM comes with multiple profiles, tho the package will list the fastest one cause that's what catches the eye, there is no reason whatsoever to that one **MUST** use the XPM profile. The JEDEC profiles are perfectly acceptable....you are not required to use the advertised overclocked profile.

Quote:
Contained within the G.Skill Ripjaws Z F3-17000CL9Q-16GBZH module's SPD ROM are two different profiles; the JEDEC 1600 MHz profile that is enabled no matter the platform the sticks are installed into, as well as the 2133 MHz XMP v1.3 profile. The above CPU-Z images show first the JEDEC profile, and then the XMP profile, as well as the matching CPU clocks.

The mobo plays in but to a very small degree, the MC (memory controller) has been the driving factor for DRAM compatibility going back Eons...There are so many people out there that have no idea about todays systems and still (like you apparently) that think the mobo determines what DRAM you can run - this goes back and basically ended with socket 775 when the MC was part of the mobo - i.e. priimarily it was in the NB (North Bridge) chipset and DRAM capabilities were based on what FSB you ran. Once the MC moved to the CPU, it became a whole new ballgame. So can the mobo run 2133, sure...and on AMD mobos they generally test with an 8350 and often an OCed one for the higher freq sticks, and the MC on a 6300 isn't near as strong as the 8350

From Mushkin

Quote:
The 997121 kit will work in that system, the only issue, as you are already aware, is that the CPU may not be able get to 2133...... there is no reason not to get the [2133] 997121 kit

Prices change daily so these won't necessarily be good even tomorrow ... the Gskill's 2133's are no longer on sale.

Best Buy 2 x 4GB = 1600 CAS 9 (10% off w/ promo code EMCPAHE224, ends 10/1) Gskill Ripjaws
$72 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

=======================================

Other options:

Best Buy 2 x 4GB = 1866 CAS 8 Mushkin Redline = $83
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Best Buy 2 x 4 GB w/ 2133 CAS 9 = $87 ... - 10% off w/ promo code EMCPAHD29, ends 10/2 = $78
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

In your case, I'd take the 1866 CAS 8 .... the 2133 CAS 9's if ya think you will carry them forward to your next build.

1866/8 will again be tight for the 6300, if you need help setting the sticks up, give me a shout.
