Hi all,

So I have searched high and low for this, and at least I couldn't find the question asked here (or anywhere else), this should be a rather new topic since the introduction of single so-dimms with 16GB capacity is quite new.

I actually asked Gigabyte's support if they could tell me if the motherboard/chip-set/bios would count 32GB ram if "was there", but they couldn't/wouldn't answer if they had locked it to 16GB or not.

So I have to ask, do anyone know if this works? Or on the extremely rare off-chance have the hardware available to test this combination?

This is a $2000 dollar question, literally : D

A big thanks to anyone who just reads this one!

This will only support up to 16 GB not 32 GB. So if youre saying this new thing is 16 GB / 1 stick it wouldnt work anyway

Are you saying that because you read the specification? or because you actually know it?

I know the specifications says 16GB, but as with all specifications, "guaranteed to work" and "what actually works" is very often not the same, so I know fully well that my questions is outside what is "guaranteed to work", hence why I'm asking if anyone else has any experience with this combination, or know of a reason why it will or will not work, based on something else than the specification alone.

Thank you.

Only way to find out is to try it then. If you think you know more than GB

Or ask here first, on the off-chance that someone actually know this. (Which I what I said in the first entry).

PS! I don't think I know more than GB, far from it. No one can make a product that supports everything, and by the time this system was on the drawing board 16GB so-dimms wasn't even in commercial sale, and since a product must be shipped eventually, no one can "test" their product against and endless combination of future products. However, the GB support was very little helpful, as in they didn't answer my question if the bios was -locked- to 16GB or if it theoretically could support it, although not officially and not on any approved hardware list, but GB wouldn't say yes or no.

So this thread is just a long shot, to see if anyone actually had tested this, or if I need to spend $2 grand to answer my question (But hey, try the free first right?).

(And Paul, no need to answer if you don't know, and if you still think I think I'm smarter than GB, fine, whatever makes you happy).

Thanks!
