So I have this annoying issue of where our Modem/Router (Arris TG862)'s wifi keeps dropping for some reason. We recently switched to comcast and it mostly occurs on two laptops that we have, one a windows 7 and one windows 8.1 the other devices that don't seem to be regularly affected by it are; 1 Kindle Fire, 2 Droid Phones, 1 Windows Vista PC, 1 Windows 8.1 Tablet, 1 Apple iPhone, WiiU, and Play Station 4. Ethernet is perfectly fine 100% of the time, it seems to just be the wifi.

What happens between the two devices tends to vary, the windows 7 laptop has issues when initially connecting to the wifi after start up. Full bars of connectivity and it shows full access how ever when attempting to browse the internet or using any program that needs internet connectivity it is null. After a long trial of reconnecting it finally works again.

The windows 8 laptop can connect after start up but drops out randomly showing "limited access" with the ! sign over the wifi signal strength icon. Disconnecting and reconnecting seems to mend this issue temporarily until it has to be done again after it later drops out once more.

Tried the following fixes to the modem/router its self:
- Resetting the Modem/Router
- Changing the channel (Current channel; Manual, 6)
- Changing the password
- Limiting the devices connected to it
- Designating MAC addresses to specific devices showing connectivity issues
- Lowering firewalls (Not permanent)

My next move was to change the encryption protection from WPA/WPA2-PSK-TKIP/AES to just WPA-PKS (TKIP) as others seem to have luck with that as a temporary fix, however I normally never do drastic changes to security and functionality without consulting other IT peeps. Would like to see if anyone else had a similar issue and had another workaround/solution that had worked for them or for someone to tell me this is a horrible idea and that Skynet will rise or something. Anyways, high hopes and thanks for reading.
