I just built my first PC, and as I've been testing it out, playing some Age of Empires 3, it shut down due to the surge protection on my motherboard. I've read some posts on here saying it's a faulty PSU, whereas others say you can just disable the surge protection at no harm. I'd love if someone could take a look at the build I have and let me know, I think my PSU is a good one, so I'd like to hear what people think the cause is.
The parts in question are an ASUS H81M-D Plus motherboard and an EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze certified PSU. PCPartPicker estimates the wattage at 378, so I don't think that's the issue. Thanks!

Are you plugged into a power strip or UPS device? If so, try plugging directly into the wall socket. Power strips are notorious for causing issues. If your PSU has settings for 110 and 220, make sure it's set on 110 (If you're in the States) or 220 (If in an EU region).

Are you using more than one temp/voltage monitoring tool on the system?
