Thanks for looking at this,

After waking up my computer from idle, doing any system level task, in particular things like right clicking the home screen, or even things like opening up a new tab in Chrome is associated with a lagging response. I can hear the hard drive I use for storage spinning up, and shortly after that happens the computer responds.

Does anyone know of a good means of troubleshooting this, as it's a little beyond the scope of what I normally do. My system specs are:

Core I5 2500k
Samsung 840 EVO SSD
Gigabyte Z68MX-UD2H-B3
8 GB DDR3 2133MHz

Do you have your power settings set for the hard drives to go to sleep?

I have the Samsung High Performance settings active which are supposedly what Samsung thinks is best for the drive. It is set to turn off after 3 minutes. But I'm unsure of why my computer is starting up the HDD for simple tasks when other than the paging file (I've looked into this as a possible issue), nothing of importance is on the HDD.

If you have your libraries (documents, videos, music & pictures) on the HDD, they are indexed...and this may require the hard drives to spin up.

Thanks for the answer. It seems a little silly, some installed games are on the drive (lots of games) but that's it. Seems silly that trying to access those things when I just want to access my resolution settings, or open a new tab in Chrome.
