So I left my computer running while I stepped away to the store for a little bit, and when I returned I noticed I only had about 112gigs of my 3TB drive left. I use this for extra storage, so my OS isn't installed on it. I typically leave about 1.5-2 TB's free on it. I did notice a 1.67TB file that was actively writing to the drive.

The file name and extension:
tmpgl_aex.QEjCbY8uDsEZ3TSUBJ_zvCx29gbAeGJ8BLO.lhw9Z-Muuz685-OwV4TV7HnTKgYmtsXnnnBBoVIH_QR9_t3yqcHB5cPNFKBo-tK0hpmDEwwkBakD7R5IVuB-tKvTQ6zEbFK-eXGZbFGh6NScEBdrZJq4lrVbkFUXIQOCTc0tS.Zlj19VMWx3T5_YBs3HX0qqbGaEIjPAcgIh3wEbCGWSmmOP086.WcQ0SjJWGzN5qlVEuSsPfBKx

Size:
1.67 TB (1,839,322,021,888 bytes)

Opens with:
Windows Shell Common Dll

System Specs:
Windows 7 Home (64-bit)
16GB of RAM
120GB SSD - Primary
Seagate 3TB - Secondary

Any insight in why this would happen would be appreciated. I can easily delete the file, but would like to mitigate this from happening again in the future.

Thanks!

Did you tell the program to delete free space? if so how many passes? i had this issue with ccleaner it creates a temp file the size or 1/3rd of the free space to ... clean the free space. If you have it set to clean at more than one pass you effectively multiply the size of that temp file by the number of passes. I don't understand this but i did notice it when i did a clean on ccleaner, and it didn't delete this temp file and left it on my computer. took up my whole hard drive.

I didn't specifically ask it to clean the free space, but I just reran BleachBit and it makes the same type of file that takes up a ridiculous amount of space, so it seems like that was the issue. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something serious. Haha, thanks for your input.
