I have a m5a99fx r2.0motherboard (AMD chipset, SB950 I think) and 5 hard drives in my build: 2 very old 5400 rpm toshibas in raid 0, an 840 evo 250GB ssd, a crucial mx100 256GB ssd and a seagate 1TB sshd. I plan to use the 1TB as a backup for two raid arrays (as well as storage).

I'd like to set up a RAID 0 using the samsung 840 evo and crucial mx100. My problem is, the EVO won't appear in asus' option ROM or even in the SATA configuration menu (my others drives do). The evo can and has been booted from and it's an option in the boot menu (lower right area if you're familiar with asus uefi bios)

Where did I go wrong here? The sata controller is set to legacy rom and my other array is working. How can I get the samsung to appear in option rom? My evo used to have windows 7 on it but I restored it to factory settings with magician (secure erase) do I need to format the drive for it to appear? Finally, when I was looking around for inspiration I didn't see anyone else mixing brands in ssd raid arrays. Is this a bad idea? This issue seems weird but I'm new to SSDs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
