I have a Samsung HD503HI faulty hdd.
I buy a same working one.
How can I read the firmware number from the faulty hdd?
I would like to restore some data from faulty one, but If I change the pcb
the hdd is spin but the bios is not recognize.

If your old PCB doesn't spin up the drive, check its TVS diodes.

See http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/HDD/TVS_diode_FAQ.html

Here are the diodes from another Samsung model:

If the diodes are OK, then measure the following voltages:

If the voltages are OK, then we can obtain a diagnostic report from the drive's serial port. Let me know if you get this far.
