Strange Behaviour of my PC

My PC's gaming performance is very much lowered.
First see my PC specs.
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.80GHz
2GB DDR2 Ram
450W PSU
Powercolor AMD Radeon HD 6770 1GB GDDR5 Green Edition
MSI MS-7529 mobo
-------------------------------------
I started overclocking my CPU when I bought my GPU. After 1 year when I was playing COD MW2, the fps was very low. It was 15 fps on an average. Those days some instability with my system started occuring like bluescreen etc. Also I tried overclocking my ram too but that was unstable and that's why I stopped overclocking my ram. Those days when I was playing COD MW2 as I said my pc was crashing frequently that's why I thought to stop overclocking my cpu and therefore reset my bios.
The thing is that when sometimes I reset the bios and the computer starts, the fps on COD MW2 jumps to 100+ which is very good. But that time my pc crashes very soon in the mid of the gameplay and after restarting the original 15 fps came back. When sometimes I overclock and restarts the same high fps gain occurs and then pc crashes and restarts. I was able to gain 20+ fps in NFS Run.
I don't what is the cause of this strange behaviour. Is it because I started overclocking and the health of cpu or ram is decreased?
Please help me how can I achieve the fps gain permanently, if any of you knows.

One thing more..
Is the 15-20 fps in MW2 that I'm getting is normal for my pc configuration? or the 100+ fps is normal?
If 15-20 fps is normal then I think the performance of system increases from normal ELSE if the 100+ fps is normal for my pc then my pc health is decreased and therefore the pc is not providing its full potential to play games.

Solution
Well, this is very odd behavior, I would say that you most certainly have created unstable overclocks that may have damaged CPU, Motherboard, Ram, etc.

Overclocking can be very dangerous and without following the correct procedure its not uncommon to have premature damage to components. I would say this is most certainly the case.

yeah i'm overclocking becoz that gives me about 4 fps gain in games... only 3 to 4 fps when I increase the core clock from 700MHz to 860MHz...

yeah I've set many times unstable overclocks... and many times my pc crashed.. but my PC is very stable at the current clocking..
and also, some frnds told me that my GPU is being bottlenecked.. because I've a low end CPU as compared to the GPU..
is it true??? Can this maybe the cause of this strange behaviour.. maybe when I reset bios and restart and the time when the high FPS boost is achieved the bottlenecking may be removed... BUT why my PC becomes VERY UNSTABLE that time and suddenly crashes in just 3-4 mins.. and then restarts and the MAGIC again Disappears..

Well.. I'm now thinking to upgrade my rig.. and throw away this whole PC.. I am thinking to BUY a new PC with-
Intel core i7 4790K
8 GB RAM
GTX 970
a Seasonic 750W PSU
Maximus VII Hero OR Sabertooth z97 Mark 2 (cannot choose between)?

BUT I'm not able to find the right CABINET for all these parts to fit.. please help me find a good and cheaper case..

AND ALSO... what yu guys say about the Low FPS I'm getting???
I meant to ask that .. the 15-20 FPS I'm getting in MW2 is normal for my PC configuration or not??
20 fps (avg) in Splinter cell conviction.. it is normal fps for my PC configuration or I should get more FPS..

no actually you have a really low end GPU, the processor is much better than the GPU, however your ram is very minimal, your GPU is well crap, and any well proportioned system will do better.

unfortuantely even a very short time of overclocking CPU/RAM/GPU incorrectly (even minutes) can cause permanent system damage. This is why it is better left to professionals or following tried and true techniques. (not saying you did it incorrectly but that you may have)
