As the title says, am i able to use a
4GB HyperX FURY series ram (10-11-10)
with
8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series ram (10-11-10-30)

and have them play nicely together? I learned today that mixing a 4gb stick of different brand ram that had 9-9-9-24 timing was horrible performance, first hand lol.

The motherboard only has 2 slots for ram.

More about : 4gb 8gb brand timing mix

Won't recommend doing that. It would be better if you buy RAM kit so that you have manufacturer's guarantee that RAMs will work together without any issue.

My issue is im buying barebone kits and they come with 4gb of ram. I want a total of 12gb of ram, so i have to buy 8gb of ram and mix it with the 4gb. I'm sure if i get the same brand and timing as the 4gb stick, im ok, but for this 1 case it would be a mix of brands and i would have to hope performance wise it would work as intended.

i run 4x virtual machines and when i started them up, it was lagging BAD when i mixed different timing of rams, even tho it set the timing down to 9-9-9-24 by default. It was such bad performance in the VM's that its unusable for what i use them for. So im hoping that by buying the same timing ram but different brand, it would fix the horrid performance in the VM's. Still unsure of just what to do as they dont make 6gb sticks.

RAM with same timings, voltages are expected to work well together, but it is not guaranteed though.
