Hey Everyone,

I've got a MSI Big Bang Xpower II which has 2 ethernet ports, and I was wondering if I could plug 2 cables in and have like "double" the speeds?
This must sound VERY stupid...

Thanks
Buck

Intel's probably one of the best for this - if you install the driver package from their download centre and make sure PROset and Advanced Networking Services are selected, there'll be NIC teaming options on one of the extra tabs in device properties.

It can be done but it normally depends on whether the network chipset manufacturer makes a utility available to configure it. There is native support in Linux and Windows Server 2012 (MS call it "LBFO") which does not require a utility but I'm not sure if that support has found its way into desktop versions of Windows. It normally requires your switch to support "teaming", "trunking", "bonding" (different manufacturers use different names), LACP or IEEE802.3ad.

You don't automatically get 2Gbps of transfer speed, though. You'll normally only benefit from it if there are multiple streams being sent which can be spread over the available links.

Hey thanks for the reply, my network chipset manufacturer is intel. I can probably get the actual ids of the ports later. I use a fritz box 7272.
