I am upgrading my old dual SLI GTX 680 to the newer GTX 970 in SLI.

I read that the 970 SLI gives you the biggest bang for the buck.

How much more overall performance should I see with my upgrade?

Also, I am giving my brother my two GTX 680's for him to use. Right now he has two antiquated Radeon HD 5870's in SLI.

What about if I upgraded to two GTX 980's instead of two 970's?

There is only a 10% performance difference between the two. Would it be worth the extra $400?

My Core i7 3770K @4.0 GHz wouldn't bottleneck those cards, would they?

Yeah I wouldnt bother with the 980 SLI, as its a lot more money for not much more performance, 970 SLI is a sweet spot.

No, you 3770k is still top tier, will work fine with them.

The GTX 970 has the best performance for it's value.

Plus they can easily be overclocked to 980 performance.
