Hi,
I have HP Pavilion g6-2301AX laptop, which has Hitachi HTS545050A7E380 500GB 5400RPM HDD.
However, I am planning to upgrade my laptop to Hitachi Hitachi HTS721010A9E630 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

My question is, whether this HDD supported by my laptop?

The official document for Pavilion g6 here http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03593126.pdf
states that 1TB 5400RPM is supported. So should I buy 1TB 7200RPM or not?

What a coincidence. :) I had almost same laptop once with that 5400 rpm hard drive. Then I upgraded it with exactly the same hard drive which you mentioned. It worked like a charm, though the laptop's battery life has greatly reduced. It also works much louder than the stock hard drive. I remember that the stock hard drive is very, very quiet. It is up to you whether to buy it or not.

So it does support that drive. I'm okay with battery drain, as I have to plugin every time I play a game. But you are saying this HDD makes a lot of noise... is it bothersome? and how warm does this HDD gets?

I can certainly hear it in a quiet place compare to 5400 rpm disk. I get used to it but it was definitely bothersome to me at first. Because the stock hard drive is very quiet. I think I am noise-sensitive person so you perhaps won't notice any difference. About the heat; it only gets warm one or two celcius more than the stock hard drive.
