I recently got a machine that was built with 8gb of ram and has Windows 7 x64bit on it. The BIOs and Windows 7 show it as installed however they say 3.25 is usable. I decided to try Windows 8.1 64bit version and it would crash when booting the installer and then I tried running it within Win7 64bit and it reported back to me that the processor doesnt support "LAHF/SAHF" and "PrefetchW" and it would not load. The Intel Pentium D 820 "Smithfield" is showing as a PLGA775 socket and the E4500 is showing as a LGA775 socket.
Would I be able to swap these from machine to machine?
