Problem with movie screening

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum.

I recently bought a new computer and a samsung SSD. Obviously I installed my windows 7 on my new SSD. But I reused the hard disks from my old computer and used them as my storage as they were together 1 gigabyte.

1. I noticed that movies I had on my hard disks are not playing in the quality they are supposed to. That is, they play at much lower quality.

2. Also, when I try to screen a movie (or enter a specific folder) the "directory bar" loads itself with a green light like when you wait for a game to load. And untill that green light finishes to load, I cant watch any film or in some cases I cant see the contents of the folder.
(I'm not quite sure what to call it... that is, the top section of the folder where the location of the folder inside the computer is written).

I did not delete/formatted the hard disk and I did have an old version fo windows 7 there as well so I'm wondering maybe thats the problem.

Thank you in advanced.
