I am looking to upgrade my current system http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMD-A8-4-2Ghz-Ultra-Fast-Quad... with the above card but I only have a 500w PSU and I have heards that I might need an upgrade.

The PSU is an RoHS ATX 500B so my question is do I need the upgrade to the PSU mostly because I don't have much cash and I am not overly enthusiastic about changing over a PSU by myself as the computer stores around here are refusing to install hardware that I buy. Thanks for the help let me know if you need more information.

You'd want to upgrade that PSU, not trusted and doesn't meet the cards requirements. If you do not upgrade it you may be in an even worse state if it blows up, but constant blue/black screens will be prominent.

Go for a PSU that fits into these three categories -

Corsair/Antec/XFX/Seasonic with at least 80+ BRONZE Certification and a minimum of 5 years warranty. Above 600W is preferable also. This may be bad news for you, but a lesson in life is to never cheap out on a power supply, many people have become worse off by doing so.

So when you say over 600 then you mean go for 700 like this one

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CX750-Builder-Series-Br...

You're right of course no point blowing up my computer because I'm cheap just going to take a few more months of saving up. And watching a lot of tutuorials on how to change a PSU

the CX is corsair entry level PSU's with three years warranty, Though I meant to say 600W is safe but you'd want more wattage for the future if your plan on upgrading.

That Power supply, even though corsair entry level is good enough, though I would cut back to 650W as 750W is a bit too much, unless as stated above if your planning on upgrading later go for higher wattages.

I wouldn't get a CX series power supply. They have poor capacitors. Go with an XFX 750W or Seasonic 720W power supply.

600~650W for safe operation. :)

Is the Seasonic really worth £30 more than a Corsair of similar type? Seems a lot when you're working with a limited budget.

if your not going to overclock, just get the Corsair, it will do your job fine.
