After five years of hopping from AMD to AMD chip on the AM3 and AM3+ platforms, I finally bought an Intel Devil's Canyon, 4790k. Now my Samsung 840 EVO has windows 8.1 and I booted it up just for fun to see if it would boot and it did. However all the old Asus AI Suite was still on there and it gave all sorts of voltage warnings and what not. My question is whether I would be able to smoothly transition everything to the new hardware, firmware, and software or if I have no choice but to reformat and reinstall to avoid any huge hassles.

I always reinstall the OS when changing motherboards. I found it's much easier overall.

Yes, re-install seems to be good thing to do for a new set of core components (mainly the motherboard and CPU). If I were you, i would definitely do to make sure. **SURE**
