I have been feeling my pc's age recently when playing newer games and I am feeling its time for an upgrade. this is my current build
I52500k @ 4.3
8gb ddr3 ram
2gb Radeon HD 6970
Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 mobo
7200 rpm 2tb HD
where do I begin my upgrades I don't want to max frames or ultra quality on everything under the sun or anything, just a respectable frame rate and decent settings would be nice. I don't have an SSD currently if thats relevant at all. Thanks is advance for your help guys.

I would definitely replace the 6970 with a GTX 970 or R9 290 if you prefer AMD. (over 50% increase in graphical performance right there)

Currently the best SSD for the price is the Crucial M500 128GB and the 250GB version. The Samsung 840 EVO has had a bloated price for some reason lately.

Everything else you have is A-Okay in my book seeing how Sandy Bridge is still a good platform and 8GB of DDR3 is more than enough still for today's standards.

System looks pretty good to me.

What exactly doesn't feel new? Are you getting low FPS in new games?

The 6970 might be holding you back.

You need to upgrade your GPU, not your whole computer.

Thats what I have been thinking, i been struggling in frames on recent games at higher texture qualities things like Metro Redux, just got Shadow of Mordor and that game is shitting all over me also saw some struggle on AC blackflag and watchdogs.

I didn't see a budget listed, but if you have some cash to spend, check out the GTX 970 ($330). I have one on the way.

If you prefer AMD, maybe a R9 290 ($400).
