highend boards do cost your more, but they give you more utilities for that extra money.
what you should be looking is the chipset, ie z97. then you compare the specs, some has more PCIe slots for SLI, some has more USB3.0 connections, and some are simply smaller, mATX.
it all comes to your preference, some boards are designed for gaming, they have more functions for graphics and audios, and look cooler
find the board the fits your system and your personal needs is more important than look for a highend mobo.
