Personally for the difference in price I would spend the tiny bit extra and get the 280x from Sapphire. They make very reliable cards, maybe the best overall for AMD cards.

You can always get a used card from eBay or something similar. I know the 7970 cards are going for around $150 USD.

The Sapphire 280x I recommended will be fine. Sapphire are one of the best manufacturers of AMD GPUs.
