how to apply (need) permission to delete an antivirus software folder?

I had Installed Avast antivirus free in my laptop windows 7, which i want to delete from my laptop. I tried to uninstall it from Programs where it is not available. it's folder is present in c:/program files. I tried to delete it from there but it shows message as 'You need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder' What can I do? Please help... I have installed new antivirus McAfee for three years today... please help

i don't guarantee this will work,but see what you get when you type "How to remove Avast Free Antivirus program" in your search engine.
Are you listed as Administrator on your computer?
If the above fails, ask Microsoft for help.
