Hello
I am going to be building an ATX system for gaming within the next two months, i don't really know when, but i will try to build it when i find a good deal on the parts or parts like the ones i want.

I was thinking of picking up a GTX 970 (Gigabyte G1 Gaming), and then later on when i would need the performance, buying another one if that should happen.

I was originally going to go with 770/780's but the power saving on that graphics card seems to be good.

So i was wondering, can 2x4gb ram, 2x1tb HDD, Xeon e3 1230v3 and two overclocked 970 fit in on a good quality singlerailed powersupply? - Either going to be an XFX 750w xxx edition or EVGA 750W Supernova G2.

As far as i know the graphics cards should at absolute max draw 200w each.

Solution
It'd be plenty for SLI 970s. EVGA B2 750W is $50 from Newegg, and would be good enough, G2 or XXX if you want modular PSU. In a nutshell, 750W would be more than fine for the intended purpose :)

Well, thanks for your quick answer - if i had gone with a GTX 780 and possibly sli'd them, i had to go with 850w. Then i would spend about 50% more on the powersupply compared to the 750w from evga, because of retarded pricing and availability in Denmark.

Excactly what caught my eye - i will be going to try and make it as quiet as possible, as i do have open headphones. They pick up everything around me, but sound great ;)

That will be enough power for your future SLI rig, and that PSU is one of the best on the market today.
The 970's maximum power draw is listed at 145Watt (or about 12.1 amps of 12V power) and the 980 is listed at 165watts (or about 13.8 amps). Those figures are for stock, reference clocked video cards. If the card is overclocked by you or is a factory overclocked card then it will draw a little more power. Still, either of those power supplies will work.
(Just fyi; the 770 can draw a max of 230 watts; 2x that of a 970)

Here's what Johnny Guru had to say about that EVGA, and why I'd recommend it:

Oh wow, had just read the article on jonnyguru, love their powersupply reviews. The best of the best reviews.

My guess, is that with the Gigabyte G1 gaming with its "GPU Gauntlet" technology, most people will get around 1400-1500 mhz core clock. (if i sli, i will probably be fine with 1300).

With such an aggresive overclock, i would expect the powerdraw to go up quite a bit, thats why i said about 200w each :)

Thanks for the links, very useful ones!

You're quite welcome.
